Clients often wonder how to get the most of their energy healing sessions. Although this can vary depending on your specific situation and the type of energy healing you are receiving, there is one simple guidepost to follow no matter what. Be proactive. Really, that’s all you have to remember because everything that follows falls under this one guidepost. But let’s take a look at what “Be proactive” means.
1.] Commit to the process. Chances are, if you’re seeking energy healing, you’re dealing with something that’s been going on for a while. You’re probably already utilizing conservative care methods and aren’t happy with the results or it feels like something is lacking in your treatment. Perhaps both. [I feel your frustration!] Like with conservative care, energy healing can be a process. Yes, there are one- or two- session ‘miracles’ touted (though none scientifically proven as of yet) and I’ve seen some ‘miraculous’ things myself, but such is seldom the case. To achieve the best results be ready to commit. It’s a commitment both to the process and to yourself.
2.] Book a series of appointments. For the most part, even if all you want to achieve is general relaxation, you’ll want to book a series of appointments. This is important especially if you are dealing with challenges such as cancer, diabetes, an ongoing mental or mood condition, anxiety/panic disorder, chronic fatigue or some other complicated dis-ease. Energy healing, in spite of most would like or what many peddle otherwise, is not a one-shot or two-shot deal. Most health issues are complex and multi-layered, and as such require more focus and attention than a few short sessions can provide. In addition, each person responds differently to the energies based on his life and health histories as well as upon his body’s individual genetic and energetic make up.
3.] Keep and arrive on time for all appointments. Just as you (hopefully) do with doctor, dental, surgical, and other important appointments, keep and arrive on time for all appointments with your energy practitioner. Consistency is key. You and the practitioner have set aside this time specifically for you. Likewise, the practitioner has prepared exclusively for you and only you, and for nothing less than the particular service for which you scheduled. Arriving on time helps you receive the full benefits of each session. It also saves you money by making sure you receive the full service. Being late indicates unpreparedness for the appointment. Being late also reduces your actual service time, which can then reduce efficacy of the services you are receiving.
4.] Follow through with home care and other suggestions. There are many simple things you can do at home to help increase the value of the energy healing services you receive. Your practitioner is aware of this; and a good practitioner will give you tips and tools you can use at home when and where appropriate. She might even suggest you visit another holistic practitioner for a session or two, suggest you see your healthcare professional, or provide you with other resources that will assist you in your improvement goals. Often such suggestions will boost the efficacy of the services she is providing and therefore, if you utilize the resources, you may need fewer energy healing sessions or be able to effectively space them further apart, while still achieving the same end results.
Think of it this way: if you want to quit smoking, you have to stop smoking cigarettes (or whatever else you might be smoking). You have to make some changes. If you’re not willing to make those changes, chances are slim you’ll quit smoking for the long haul, and will continue to experience the same health-related issues. It’s the same with energy healing work. You have to do your part. So do yourself a good service and follow through with your practitioner’s suggestions – provided you aren’t being told to follow the lemmings off a cliff.
5.] Ask questions along the way. Sometimes you might not be sure where things are going within your healing regimen. Maybe you have other questions, or aren’t yet seeing the results you’d like. Stop. Breathe. Ask questions. Your practitioner will not be offended by you asking legitimate questions of concern. Just remember to keep questions to the topic of the services you are receiving. Most energy healing practitioners are not doctors, psychologists, or dieticians – though some are – and therefore by law cannot answer certain questions. Practitioners do however want to help you along the way; that’s why we got into this work, to help others, to help you. Got questions? Ask. It’s that simple.
If it’s between appointments, it’s best to write down your questions and bring them with you to your next appointment.
